Monstera Mint 6cm Pot House Plant

The Monstera Mint is one of the most coveted variegated Monsteras in cultivation. Loved for its cool-toned palette, this plant produces striking leaves marbled with soft mint, icy green and creamy hues layered over classic deep green. The effect is refined, modern and unmistakably high-end — a standout even among serious collectors.

Unlike stark white variegation, mint variegation offers a more subtle, ethereal contrast, giving the foliage depth and movement as the colours mature. Each new leaf unfurls with its own unique pattern, making this plant endlessly rewarding to grow and observe.

Highly limited in availability and slow-growing by nature, Monstera Mint is considered a true collector-grade plant and a long-term investment piece.

Care Guide

🌿 Light

Bright indirect light is essential for healthy growth and maintaining mint variegation.

  • Place near a bright window with filtered light

  • Avoid strong direct sunlight, which can scorch lighter areas

  • Insufficient light may cause greener, less variegated leaves

A grow light can be beneficial, especially during darker UK winter months.

💧 Water

Water when the top 2–4 cm of soil feels dry.

  • Keep soil lightly moist but never saturated

  • Always allow excess water to drain away

  • Overwatering can lead to root rot, particularly in variegated plants

Consistency is more important than frequency.

🌡 Temperature & Humidity

  • Ideal temperature range: 18–26°C

  • Minimum temperature: 15°C

  • Thrives in high humidity (60–70%+)

Higher humidity helps prevent browning on mint areas and supports larger, healthier leaves. A humidifier is strongly recommended.

🪴 Soil & Potting

A well-aerated aroid mix is essential.
Recommended mix:

  • Orchid bark (for airflow)

  • Perlite or pumice (for drainage)

  • Coco coir or peat (for moisture retention)

  • A small amount of compost or worm castings

Repot only when root-bound — Monstera Mint prefers to be slightly snug in its pot.

🌱 Feeding

Feed once a month during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser at half strength.

  • Avoid overfeeding, which can stress variegated foliage

  • Do not fertilise during winter dormancy

Optional: occasional calcium-magnesium supplement to support leaf structure.

🌿 Growth & Support

  • Growth rate: slow to moderate due to variegation

  • Mature leaves can develop dramatic fenestrations with proper care

  • A moss pole or support encourages larger leaves and stronger growth

Rotate the plant regularly to maintain balanced growth and even light exposure.

✂️ Pruning & Variegation Management

  • Remove damaged or fully reverted green leaves if necessary

  • Pruning should always be done with clean, sharp tools

  • Variegation is genetically unstable — patterning will always vary leaf to leaf

This unpredictability is part of the plant’s appeal.

⚠️ Toxicity

Toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Keep out of reach of cats, dogs and children.
