White Princess Philodendron 17cm Pot House Plant

Philodendron White Princess is a beautiful variegated climbing philodendron with glossy green leaves splashed and marbled with bright white variegation. Some plants may also produce occasional blush-pink tones along the stems or within new leaves, adding even more character. Every plant is unique, with some leaves heavily variegated and others showing smaller flecks and streaks of white.

White Princess has a more upright, climbing habit than many other philodendrons. Over time, and with support from a moss pole or stake, it can develop into a tall, elegant plant with larger, more dramatic foliage. The white variegation gives it a clean, striking appearance that stands out in any houseplant collection.

Because of the high variegation, the lower leaves can occasionally become slightly brown or marked, particularly on the white sections. This is normal and often happens naturally as the plant matures.

Care Guide

Light
Place your Philodendron White Princess in bright, indirect light. Plenty of light helps maintain strong white variegation, but avoid direct sunlight as the white sections of the leaves can scorch easily. Too little light may cause the plant to become greener and lose some of its variegation.

Watering
Allow the top 2–5cm of soil to dry before watering. Water thoroughly, then allow excess water to drain away. White Princess does not like sitting in wet compost and overwatering can quickly lead to root rot.

Humidity
Philodendron White Princess prefers moderate to high humidity, ideally above 60%. It can adapt to average household humidity, but higher humidity will help keep the leaves healthy and reduce browning on the white areas.

Temperature
Keep in a warm room between 18–28°C. Protect from cold draughts and avoid temperatures below 15°C.

Soil
Use a chunky, free-draining houseplant mix. A combination of houseplant compost, orchid bark and perlite works very well, helping to keep the roots healthy and aerated.

Feeding
Feed every 2–4 weeks in spring and summer using a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser diluted to half strength. Reduce feeding during autumn and winter when growth slows.

Support
White Princess is a climbing philodendron and will benefit from a moss pole or support. This helps encourage larger leaves and a more upright, attractive shape.

Common Issues

  • Brown patches on white areas: often caused by low humidity or direct sunlight
  • Yellow leaves: usually a sign of overwatering
  • Fading variegation: the plant may need brighter light
  • Leggy growth: caused by insufficient light or lack of support

Philodendron White Princess is ideal for anyone looking for an elegant, easy-to-grow variegated houseplant. With bright light and the right care, it will continue to produce beautiful, unique foliage year after year.
